Since my teaching philosophy is that every piano lesson should be fun, I tailor each lesson according to the student's age and interests. For young beginners, I choose method books that contain fun songs. I also teach music theory through story telling. For older students, I tailor each lesson according to their interests.However, I encourage them to learn Classical music, so that students develop good musicality. All of my lessons are built around songs to teach technique and I add materials to teach theory and musicianship if the student wants and needs it. I always interview each student to find out their interests and desires and and build a custom curriculum eight lessons at a time to insure satisfaction and success on the students terms. Hi! My name is Willa, and I've been teaching music for twelve years! I began learning piano at age four, and it became a deeper and deeper passion as the years passed. I dedicated myself to my craft and went on to become a Perry & Walters Music Foundation Scholar, attending Harding University and graduating Cum Laude with my BA in Music (emphasis in piano). I taught for a time in Searcy, (privately, and with the Searcy Community School of Music) and started a weekly music therapy program at a school for kids with mental and physical disabilities (The Sunshine School).
