I try to make my lessons fun but challenging enough for there to be growth! There are days when our voices don't work as well as we'd like them to. I want my students to know that that's completely normal. Us singers have to learn vocal technique to help support ourselves on our "vocally-bad days" and to keep our only pair of vocal cords healthy at all times.  Professional engagements have been in opera, musical theatre, and concert. I have been featured in solo concert appearances in Boston Symphony Hall, San Francisco's Alcazar and Cable Car Theatres, New York's Alice Tully Hall and Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall.   In 2007, I was Quarter-Finalist on season 2 of NBC's America's Got Talent.  I returned for season 3 where I was advanced to the Semi-Finals appearing before an audience of 12 million viewers each week. My teaching experience dates back to 1996, when I began teaching lessons to children in at-risk communities in dance and music, while going through school in Oakland. I then continued in Stockton, CA, where I developed music and dance programs in the Recreation Centers, and later developed my own non-profit organization. I was born with an "educator" mindset, and began teaching early on in my personal music studies. I began teaching about 10 years ago, in 2010, after getting into my undergraduate studies for music performance. I have taught all levels and in many different settings: To-date I have taught ages 6 through 65. I have taught in formal school system classrooms, private music studios, community centers and at a student's home.
