My teaching style is based on love, patience, kindness and understanding. My priority is to create a safe space for students so that they can express themselves freely and authentically. The most important aspect is to make learning a fun, enjoyable and fulfilling process by understanding the student and listening to what they want to accomplish. I belive music is the universal language. It doesnt matter what type of music you play, the theory is all the same. When you learn a song, the theory should be learned as well. I like to give scales and a practical theory lesson each week, then transcribe a song for the student to learn that relates to the weeks lesson. Then at the end of each week's lesson, we will practice impovisation with the scales, theory and song learned from the week before. Read More

As a teacher in public and charter schools, I have directed choruses, small chamber ensembles, orchestras, and musical theater. I started teaching music lessons during college, where I excelled as a trombonist. Although I remain a brass teacher, I "made the switch" to singing in 2005. In 2006 I was accepted to graduate school for singing and historical musicology.
