Often there are students with previous instructors and I have no trouble picking up where the student left off. I can recommend books or a series as well as supplemental skills practice books. I break down the overall goal to a small step that is doable for the student. I am nice and patient with students, meanwhile, I insist on they accomplishing my instruction. My teaching style is based on traditional classical approach of Russian Piano teaching method. For younger, beginner level student lessons are structured around different activities and games (for very young students) to learn notes reading and rhythm. For intermediate and more advanced students each lesson starts with a warm up, of scales, arpeggios, etudes or other technical pieces. After that we move onto working on individual pieces of music. For the more advanced, I will start with a few warm-ups, and breath exercises before singing a short song (happy birthday, and/or prepared piece) before determining vocal range and repertoire. For clarinet beginners, I typically start with the "David Hite" methods book, and the "Big and Beautiful" technique outlined in "Squeak Big". I teach them to build a strong sound from open G and never leave a lesson until they can play a recognizable tune as they are learning the beginning concepts of breathing and technique. Read More

I began my vocal private studio while working on my Masters degree in Copenhagen in 2007. Since then I have maintained an active studio in various cities including Miami and New York City with students of all ages and levels of experience.
