My style is open minded. I first try to know the students' goals and prepare a course of action accordingly. Then I try to know how much the students already knows and how much talent they have. That allows me to determine how fast I may go with them or how much I must drill and develop a particular skill before going on. Sometimes if I assess the student is jammed or stressed I deem it necessary to digress a bit into music history , philosophy and other fields related to music that work as a refreshing background and point of rebound to the skill part of the lesson while increase the scholarly knowledge of the student. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. My methods include playing by ear, learning the foundation and solfeggi. Read More

My teaching experience began in the school year of 2011-2012 when I had the pleasure of an apprenticeship with a locally renowned Music Director at E.W.F. Stirrup Elementary. This was where my passion for teaching music flourished. Under Director Sherker's wing, we taught and directed the elementary school string orchestra and chorus programs. From then on I knew that my talent and studies were meant to be spread through my own teachings. Read More

I like working with songs that students will enjoy playing or singing. I use songs as tools that include new information; so, with each piece, student learns something new with the joy of "just" learning a song. I create lesson plans that allow students to learn one step at a time. I use variety of methods that help students to focus and/or refocus on the concepts they are learning. Read More
