Vocally, I believe good basic technique is the same for every genre of music. Therefore, great emphasis is placed on learning to breathe and support your sound correctly as well as maintain good posture, rid your body of unwanted tensions, etc.; musical styles beyond that basic technique change only in small stylistic ways, and I am knowledgeable in quite a variety of most musical styles. With guitar, I focus on learning to read and play musical notation and chords without using guitar tablature. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing my students develop a love for music!. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I always aim my students' optimum learning, encouraging challenges themselves. Acknowledging accomplishments and performance opportunities help to fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

A vital part of developing voice repertoire is exploring various interests and styles. I encourage all vocalists to choose songs that they will enjoy singing, but I will guide my students in exploring any realm otherwise not explored. I encourage healthy singing and practicing techniques that will ensure productive rehearsal without fear of vocal damage. A professor of mine used to always say, "there is no singing without acting", and I ensure that when a student sings a song, they will not only know how to sing properly, but they will also have a deep understanding of what they are singing about and how to convey the message. I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2016, I graduated from The University of Miami with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Jazz Performance. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to play in all 48 of the contiguous United States. I've also had the experience of traveling to and performing in 45 different countries. Read More

Practice is ideal for each student. I encourage my students in their practicing. Progress will be made most quickly by those students who maintain the recommended practicing time (1 hour per day). Parents are also encouraged to be involved in their students practice. Taking the time to listen to your child play their weekly songs, or creating a set time for practicing in the students daily routine are good ways to become involved. Read More

As with most of my own studies, I try to adhere to the classical style of training. I will also adjust as to the student's individual needs. Of course with everyone, we will increase vocal range and experiment with what areas of style need more work than others, for example some may need to work harder at belting than head voice, and so on. The most important things in my opinion are warmup techniques, breath support, examining correct space, finding the lift in the soft palate, and letting go of any tension, especially in the jaw area, as it is not a part of the process!
