Music making and teaching has been my passion since I was young. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education. As a child, I participated in choir for 8 years and was in the University of Michigan's University Choir and Orpheus Singers. We always spend time at the end singing something they want to sing, it's important to not feel pressured into music. We will build a repertoire of songs the student is connected to and work towards a set list for a showcase. Every stage is different. With beginners, you want them to learn the notes first, then the chords, the harder chords..etc. With intermediate players, you can begin teaching them songs and giving them songs to work on. Advanced players is all about finding the right tone and the right sounds, most likely helping by providing guitar work with them. It all depends on the student! For older individuals, I prefer to work with their interests, and work towards their goals, through tailored lessons. This summer I was the music director and vocal coach for The Little Mermaid. My students are encouaraged to push outside their boundaries and discover new techniques and styles that they never thought they could accomplish. I use positive reinforcement, character work, and classical rooted techniques to develop a healthy singing technique that will keep the voice strong and growing.
