For all my students I design a fun atmosphere where they feel comfortable, stimulated and encouraged to absorb musical knowledge. Depending on their musical backgrounds and their ability I discuss with my students and their parents(depending on student's age) what is their primary goal to achieve during the lesson, what style they want to concentrate on. When we get to know each other I assign my student with Vaccai classical tune (practices vocal technique) and two songs in style preferred, when a student learns and masters these we move on, with more difficult tunes each time. Everyone has their own unique voice, and we will find yours together! I have training in several technique-driven styles, including classical and broadway. However, I like to mix and match. I'm not interested in teaching one certain way- I listen on the fly, and make judgment calls according whatever makes YOU sound best. My name is Courtney and I am a recent college graduate of Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Science degree in vocal performance and a minor in musical theater. While my major primarily concentrated on opera, I specialize in classical, musical theater, and pop singing. I've had the opportunity to perform all over the country, at venues such as The Grande Ole Opry, Carnegie Hall, and The Kimmel Center. I have a masters degree in Oboe Performance from the prestigious CCM, at the University of Cincinnati. I live as a freelance oboist, pianist, and vocalist in New York City, and am currently recording my first full length album.
