For all my students I design a fun atmosphere where they feel comfortable, stimulated and encouraged to absorb musical knowledge. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. Piano: I typically teach out of Fabre's piano adventures series. this establishes technique, aural skills, sight-reading skills, and then I'll add on my own exercises for compositional skills and improvisational skills. I am flexible to work outside of the books as well, and to learn songs and material that might be outside of the book. I also recognize that every student is different and will cater the material and course of study to the individual (based on a mix of my observations, what the students communicated goals are, and what the parents communicated goals are) above all of this, my main goal is to spark and maintain the excitement for making music! For students aged 3-6, I ensure to use visual materials. I also try to give the student time at the end of the lesson to improvise, which ensures ending on a positive note.-Students aged 7-13 always a quick Q&A regarding music studies in school if they are participating in the school's music program. It was a very enriching experience to teach for such a young age, and very challenging to have so many students in the same class room!
