I began teaching about a year ago where I served as an adjunct faculty member at The Allegra School of Music in Hillsborough, NJ. What I love most about teaching is taking the time to taking things a part and exploring them, one thing at a time, concept by concept, and molding them back together to form a strong, solid technical foundation. I have been teaching people to sing for over 20 years.Originally, I am from the UK but for the last 7 years I have been teaching in Freehold NJ. I have converted my garage into a "high tech" teaching and recording studio. As a working vocalist, I am very aware of the importance of taking care of one's voice. My teaching style involves setting realistic goals and making sure the environment is fun and invigorating. I always like to make sure I am teaching my students what they want to learn, but I do occasionally challenge them by assigning more advanced material that I envision them performing or think would be beneficial to them. I celebrate all of my students' achievements and always remind them of how far they have come, especially when they get to more difficult material that may test them. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music and they start performing ! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and I also give them homework to practice. Nothing is more exciting for me to watch than when a student gains confidence within music! As a teacher it's important for me to lay the fundamentals and strengthen their dexterity in music. However, artists are born when a student's individuality is nurtured and they express themselves with the tools they've been given. My teaching experience dates back to my high school days, as I rose to become section leader of the clarinet section in band and section leader of the alto section in choir. Since then, I have been teaching private lessons to students of all different ages and skill levels, as well as individuals with disabilities. Encouraging practice schedules and routine is something I like to emphasize in younger students. I aim to bring my students individual musical interests into our class as that tends to keep them more engaged. Read More
