I'm a passionate instructor that focuses on each individual's goals needed to further their love for music or to be audition ready at all times. I graduated from the University of Louisville with a degree in Music performance, emphasis in voice and have continued my career with music. I believe my students will learn at their highest potential by personalizing each lesson around what they need. For example: if a student is interested in auditioning for College or specific ensembles or groups, I will incorporate the audition requirements into the lesson so they feel adequately prepared when they walk into their audition. For me, enjoyment as well as developing proper, healthy technique is key. This means that student may have to do more gritty work than with other teachers, but this pays off as they get to tackle more challenging rep and ultimately can connect skills to repertoire more quickly. However, I always like to meet students where they're at. If they want to learn how to play their favorite pop song on piano, or want to audition for their local theater's musical theater production, my priority will always be teaching in ways that the student feels is relevant to their goals and interests. I adapt my methods to each student accordingly. Every person is unique and has a different taste in music. However I am strict in making sure that all my students understand the fundamentals of music. Ear Training, music theory, ability to read notation and tabs, understanding chords and voicing, how to count rhythms. I have a set list of songs I teach most of my students, as they help to develop technique and are usually well received by most students. Read More

I began teaching music while in college after a peer approached me looking for voice lessons in order to improve her ear training skills. I immediately enjoyed facilitating and witnessing the progress of my student and decided to take on additional students. When I moved to Colorado, I was making music more and more and missed teaching. That's when I was given the opportunity to teach a 2-month course in music production to students with very limited music experience. Read More

My teaching style is free flowing and depends on the specific student. Everybody's experience with music is different and not everybody will pick things up as quickly as others so you must meet them where they are. Music is nerve-racking at first because expressing ourselves isn't something that is always encouraged so I look for something they are interested in to start off. From there, we build on musicality and find their original response to music. Read More

This will vary given the student's abilities and particular intentions for study. In general, I focus on five distinct areas of learning: technique, theoretical understanding, reading, intuitive playing/learning by ear, and performance. I like to keep each lesson fluid and organized, by maintaining structure within segments of study. Within these segments we may venture into something unanticipated, so long as the student expresses interest, readiness, and the ability to learn. Read More
