As a young teen, I performed on the Tony Grant, Stars of Tomorrow show in Atlantic City, N.J. every summer. I also competed in the Talent America competition, winning first place in the teen vocal division. All through my school years, I actively participated in my church and school choir which I feel helped develop the discipline needed for pitch and rhythm synchronization within a group. As I discovered my passion for it I continued to study it in college and graduated with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Music from Rider University. Before returning to PA in the summer of 2017, I taught Preschool-6th Grade general music in Richmond and Oakland, CA. Along with classroom teaching, I've taught voice, guitar, ukulele, piano and group music classes throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm currently working towards a PA K-12 Education Certification. I start each student with the Frances Clark Series. This is terrific in introducing all musical components to the learner. It starts off right away using ALL the notes on the piano. Black notes are used exclusively in some repertoire. Each building block is built upon the next and it just nicely adds , in a non-threatening way to what the student has learned before. My teaching style consists of setting realistic short term and long term goals for my students. I always make sure my students understand the material I am showing them. I encourage them to challenge themselves to achieve their goals they never thought they could achieve. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
