I love to do a combination of Suzuki and traditional styles. I believe ear-training and traditional sight-reading are both crucial to young musicians. I began Suzuki piano when I was five and I'm so thankful to have such a keen ear as a professional violinist. If the student has had music lessons before, I'm very happy to continue teaching whatever method they had previously started with. I like to start every lesson with a warmup including breathing exercises and vocalises. Students can either bring in repertoire they'd like to work on or I will suggest material. We will work for freeing the voice in a healthy way while learning repertoire that interests the student. Read More

I've actually written and produced my own music theory book that was in all Borders stores before they closed down. I've learned a few methods and I try to incorporate them all unless the student or parents wants something specific. My method is a method where I can teach 1 thing countless ways. I love my students to learn theory because it is a very important backbone to music. Some people can play instruments without ever really kwoing what they are playing or understand the theory behind it, and I think it holds them back from truely being creative and understanding of music.    With my methods students will be able to play from any genre, any book, and hopefully will be able to create their own music. In class I work on the development of the singing voice through body awarenessapplying the Feldenkrais Methodand voice techniques from the worlds of classical, jazz and contemporary music. Aural awareness is improved through ear exercises singing. Techniques for performance practice and dealing with performance anxiety are addressed.
