Hi There! I am a 2007 graduate of New School University's Jazz and Contemporary Music program with a BFA in Jazz Vocal Performance. I am also a professionally-trained pianist. I am trained in both classical and jazz vocal techniques and would also be happy to instruct students in general performance/presentation skills. For younger students, especially children, I will begin their first vocal lesson by standing next to them and showing them how to stand with correct posture. Then I will move on to breathing by having the child place their hand on their diaphragm. I will show them that it is the muscle right above their stomach. In the best way possible, I will explain to them that in order to breathe correctly, they must be able to feel their stomach move in and out instead of their chest. Read More

I like to start every lesson with a warmup including breathing exercises and vocalises. Students can either bring in repertoire they'd like to work on or I will suggest material. We will work for freeing the voice in a healthy way while learning repertoire that interests the student. Read More

I began teaching 9 years ago while studying classical singing in college. My students have ranged from absolute beginners to intermediate level performers. I have helped students prepare for auditions, performances, and even a sung marriage proposal! It brings me great joy to see a student succeed vocally.
