I always try to make my classes fun and engaging. I manage a very particular teaching method based on how I have learned from my mentors. On the first class I ask what the student's interest is and what would make him/her happy to learn, how the student imagines playing and what styles of music are the favorites ones. If the student is beginner, I like to start teaching basic knowledge of instrument technique accompanied by easy rhythms so that the student feels motivated. Read More

To be honest, I didn't become serious about teaching in the arts until I went to graduate school from 2019 - 2022. There, I co-taught a class in the winter 2022 to undergraduates and realized I enjoyed teaching a variety of artists and helping them to feel more open in sharing their art and artistic practices. When I graduated, I knew that the next logical and intuitive step for me was teaching. Not only do I want to help others achieve their goals, I also feel that teaching pays homage to all of the mentors and teachers I've had throughout my life. Read More

Enthusiasm! Encouragement! Fun! And lots of patience. I'm an energetic and passionate teacher and my goal in teaching is to pass that energy and passion on to my students! I understand that setting realistic goals and moving at a comfortable pace are crucial steps to take in order for this to happen. I also like to provide historical context and break down the "why" behind songs we work on in terms of music theory and songwriting choices, so that students can truly get a grasp on the entirety of the work rather than simply memorizing notes. Each student is different and as such, each student's approach to learning music is different. While still addressing your personal goals, I work to help you achieve those goals and interests, but also utilize my own experiences in teaching to foster deeper growth. I focus on exploration, keeping the study interesting, all while understanding that each student can be at any level, and learn at any speed. I believe that both talent and potential must be met with effort for growth to be achieved, and that all students need some form of discipline and encouragement and make sure to serve both at every lesson. Since I mainly work with teenagers and adults, I like to start with Alfred's Adult's Piano Courses. I like to find music that the student is interested in and to put together solo repertoire that they enjoy playing. This can be anything from classical music to the Beatles, Jazz Standards or pop tunes. I also encourage my students to write, to record themselves and play for others. If they are aspiring songwriters, we work on their material, as well as learning songs by their favourite musicians and specific songwriting exercises, which include rhythm, melody, harmony and lyrics. Since I'm focusing on voice lessons, I work with all students on being aware of their breathing. Having the right breathing patterns (since there are many varieties) is what can give you the edge and really bring out the best voice inside of you. Honestly, I mostly will give students recent pop songs that are good for the voice unless one is a stickler for classical songs, in which I sometimes use the 24 Italian Art Songs and Arias. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
