Nothing means more to me than a student with an appetite and love for music! It warms my heart when a child grasps a concept in a lesson and really understands what we are aspiring to. This is the most rewarding for me as a teacher. It is very important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. I always begin a lesson with having the student play a song/piece of their choice, so that they can feel confident and comfortable in their own skin and in the lesson space. For wind instruments, long tones and scales will occur at the beginning of the lesson, and will be followed by study of an etude and/or piece of repertoire. I will ask the student to sing through the piece, so that the student can make a connection with their own voice and with the music, followed by the student reading through the piece with their instrument. My students and I talk about their long-term goals from our first lesson. I always ensure that they can see the big picture that I can see, and our lessons are never only about improving the song or scene that they are working on in the lesson. I try to help my students see the connection between improving their performance techniques and preparation practices and their long-term improvement as a performer. Read More

I only have one aim on why I teach. I want to see my students bring out the best in them, see their strength in their talent, be inspired and motivated, be able to find their own niche and ultimately become better performers. Just seeing them grow in the passion they've chosen is a huge accomplishment for me. I believe that in teaching, I am learning as well. Sharing my passion to someone who is very passionate in their craft inspires me to even teach more. Read More

I started teaching private singing lessons five-years-ago while still in college. Starting off, I was teaching classical and pop vocal technique to fellow college students. As time progressed I expanded, and began teaching children (ages five-to-twelve) songwriting, guitar, piano and performance. I taught part-time until a year ago when started my own private studio in Southern California. I had eight students ranging from kids who had never played an instrument, to teenagers applying to music conservatories. Read More

As an active performer, I expect a lot from my students. Anyone who is contacting me will definitely get A BIG BANG FOR THEIR BUCK!! As a young teacher I'm not intimidating but up to date with the younger students. With the older students I am informative and helpful wrapped in grace, class and respect! Read More

It is good to start singing lessons around age 11, when the voice starts to change - even though it can feel awkward at first. There are hormonal, physical, and emotional changes in those early teen years that respond well to the lyrics and stories told in many contemporary songs. I work to match the stories as well as melody and vocal range to the songs I give all my students. Read More
