Teaching is my passion and calling, i can't think of doing anything else! In 2013 I graduated from Fairfield University with a triple major in English, Gender Studies, and Violin Performance. While studying at University I started my band with my sister, Verdigrls. We have gone on to put out an EP, play all over the NY metropolitan area as well as have our music featured in movies and television. Other recent roles performed include Dominick Argentos Postcard from Morocco (Lady with a Hand Mirror), Candide (Cunegonde), Sweeney Todd (Johanna), and HMS Pinafore (Josephine). Her recent concert appearances include the title role in Debussys La Damoiselle lue, and soprano soloist in Handels Judas Maccabaeus with the Queens College Choral Society. Because I teach a variety of instruments and styles, each of my lessons is completely customized to each student. While progressing towards a Masters of Education degree, I learned the absolute importance of addressing different learning styles, and working one-on-one with music students gives me the perfect chance to do just that. My biggest reward is seeing my students passionate about their voice, their instrument, their music. I focus a lot on understanding music from the piano so I feel very happy when they can demonstrate good musicianship skills in challenging settings. For this to happen I usually set up small objectives for each class and help them set new goals during their own practice time that will allow continuous improvement during our next lesson.  For example, being able to sing a 3rd with just playing the tonic or dominant notes. I grew up in a musical family and began with the piano and violin then took up singing when I was 15. I found that I could excel and after living two years in Bolivia, came back and studied voice with a well traveled professional baritone in Seattle. He encouraged me and then I was able to apprentice at the Lyric Opera in Chicago for 2 years. It prepared me to be a professional singer, which I have done for over 30 years. Read More

My piano students generally start with Faber Piano Adventures. I assign them solo repertoire as they progress through each level in preparation for a recital performance. For the more advanced students, I introduce the fundamentals of playing jazz piano as well. I have my voice students sing through repertoire in the styles of their choice in order to have a better understanding of how their unique voice functions. While working on repertoire, I instill habits of healthy breathing and vocal production. Read More

This is because in my seven years of teaching I have observed that much of what students struggle with is habitual tension, whether physical or psychological. Therefore, it doesn't matter what kind of music a student wants to sing as long as they approach the material from a relaxed and grounded place physically and mentally. My students will not only take consistent lessons (properly customized to what they need to learn that month, week, or session) but they will actively seek out opportunities to perform what they have learned in a public setting.
