I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston prior to moving to Los Angeles. There, I would work with some industry greats like Richard Druz, Lenny Greene and Frank Zappa. Iabsorbed their skills, talents and techniques. After singing with many bands in the area, I found gospel music and joined a church with Pastor Rowena Frisco in Inglewood. Frisco taught me what gospel music was all about and I have carried it with me ever since. Read More

In voice, you must think as an instrument and as a person as well. Every person is different, so the method. There are extroverted and shy persons. I am always respectful and patient with my student's pace and personality. Everyone is different, so I put a lot of effort to take out the very best from my students. If I cannot help, I am very honest to tell you to change professor. Read More

I am an energetic and encouraging instructor who loves seeing students get excited about learning new things. I have B.M. in Acoustic Composition and Electronic Music, 10 years of playing/performing French horn, 5 rigorous years of piano instruction and performance, and a whole lifetime of singing. I wear a lot of hats in my professional life that range from composer to ethnomusicologist (specializing in UK identities and politics in music) to performer (formerly primarily horn but now primarily piano and voice) to music administrator to teacher. My teaching style involves the student being able to measure their growth and assess what they can do to continue their growth. I make sure students practice on a regular basis and at the end of lessons, I have them repeat back to me what they need to continue learning. This helps them practice on their own without me in between weekly classes. When an improvement happens during the lesson, I acknowledge it right away (with younger students, I also use a visual, such as stars, so they can see their progress) and have the student say out loud what made it a good run through so they can continue to perform that way! I believe that it is the teacher duty not only to impart the wisdom expected of them, but to also guide the students in their academic endeavors. While I understand that each and every student is unique in their learning and progress, I will always strive to push my students forward and sometimes out of their comfort zones as to be better performers, better musicians, and better people. That being said, although I'm strict with the work assigned of my students, I'll always be lenient in terms of understanding that there is never one single way of learning something. Read More

Hello! I've been teaching music as long as I've been performing, going back many years. I'm an energetic, supportive teacher and coach, who is focused on each student's needs. Since I've performed worldwide in many different genres, I'm very comfortable working in styles ranging from pop to musical theatre, jazz and blues to classical music. I've taught voice at Berklee College of Music, and several other schools, where I've enjoyed teaching people of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities. Read More

Instruments: Voice

I discovered my love for teaching voice as a graduate student taking pedagogy classes at CU Boulder. Every student brings a unique set of skills and needs to the table, I believe the best method of teaching is a flexible one, that caters to the student’s needs and goals. Teaching music is not only about notes and rhythms; it involves teaching the whole student. By taking voice lessons, the student will develop their singing skills as well as their listening skills, multi-tasking, working with others, and creative skills. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
