The most important thing for me when it comes to teaching is knowing that my student is progressing but also enjoying their experience overall, another very important factor is overall retention of the information. Every person is different so there is really no cut and dry method of teaching, keeping this in mind the experience for everyone should be unique in a way. By setting routines together Im sure we could come to an agreement on how we could both help each other achieve our goals and succeed. Read More

Hello, my name is Briona. I'm a Vocalist with ten years of work experience onboard the top cruise lines as a Lead Vocalist. As a resident Vocalist onboard I had the opportunity to travel the world and experience cultural immersion from Europe, the Middle East, Australia, China, Japan, South America to the Antarctic circle. My 1st year in college I was the worst student in voice I was pitchy and had no access to my Soprano range and through excellent vocal coaches I was able to exit college with paid opportunities and was surprised to learn a lot of my pitch issues was because I was a mezzo soprano who had always been taught to sing like an alto. My Teaching experience with playing the guitar is correlated to my experience as a Florida Teacher. I spent a lot of time using the guitar to build rapport and create positive teacher/student relationships that motivated students to achieve not only with the guitar but their academics as well. I have plenty of experience teaching students how to change chords, finger placement between frets, and surviving sore finger syndrome. Lol I encourage my students to practice on a daily basis and to focus on their right hand techniques as well as chord mastering. Read More

I also heavily believe in the integration of different subjects of learning in order to enhance the application of knowledge. For instance, learning about counterpoint is the perfect opportunity to include music history to track trends and usage of counterpoint and encourage practical application in the form of composition (also creating the opportunity to learn a little about orchestration). In that example alone, there are four areas of music education wrapped up in one topic. Read More

I began teaching voice over 5 years ago and have maintained a studio of singers varying in vocal style, age, and skill level. Each one has brought new challenges to me as a teacher and helped me home in on my teaching style and methods. If my students don't feel encouraged, practice on their own, or aren't having fun in lessons then I am not doing my job correctly! I love when students find songs they are passionate about singing and working on them together to make them the best possible product to present. Read More
