My voice lessons are tailored solely to the abilities and interests of the student. If they prefer classical repertoire, we work through various art songs in Italian, German, French and English, focusing on technique and diction. If they prefer musical theatre, we have fun with the acting side of it, while learning good technique. For students who are first getting started with their instrument(s), I use a variety of introductory book series and pieces depending on the student. Hal Leonard, FJH Method, Alfred, and Faber series are just a few that I keep an inventory of for new students. I typically keep a large Google Drive library dedicated for beginners and younger students, as these lesson plans will include fun activities and pieces not unlike those of elementary general music. I believe that every student is different, and that is important to understand each student’s passions and interests.  It is important to find out how each student learns, and to motivate him or her to improve, grow, and be passionate about music.  I do not want to only teach the notes on the page; I want to instill a lifelong love of music and a basic knowledge of music theory.  Learning the goals and aspirations of each of my students is very important to me, as I know that performing music should be about joy and self expression. My emphasis with students begins with two things: creating a practice routine, and building fundamental singing techniques to create bodily awareness. I have studied piano privately for almost 10 years. My first experience teaching piano was in high-school, when I taught after school lessons. In 4th grade I got a recorder and from then on I've soaked up all the music experiences around me. I fondly remember my first solo performance was 5th grade, and my first honor band was that summer. By my senior year of high school I had been involved in a couple dozen honor bands/choirs/orchestras including an amazing tour of Europe in a 200 person band!
