I taught private lessons during my time at college. About a year ago, I started teaching vocal lessons online after instructing family, friends, and students for over two years. And most recently, I've been a choir teacher, conducting a children's choir. We travel around the city to local schools, have recitals, and spread our joy of singing. My teaching style heavily emphasizes repetition; I prefer students to work repeatedly on musical phrases and voice concepts to create consistency and make once difficult feats easy. This assures that the student is able to use lessons learned in future situations, and helps them to realize their ability to accomplish goals and challenge themselves toward maximal progress. Not only do I teach students how to play or create music, but also how to successfully set goals and achieve them. Every musician should have a goal in mind when practicing. Learning how to manage that goal can be tricky. I like to work together with students to take their goals and break them down smaller into more manageable pieces for them to master. I encourage students to focus on their personal expression and growth as a musician. While I select pieces for students based on their skill level and ability to take challenges effectively, students are given the freedom to browse their own musical library or lexicon to perform music they enjoy or is moving to them. Since many modern songs can be found without sheet music or proper notation for each instrument, I arrange pieces and songs for students' instruments as close to the recorded version as possible. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for what they are learning.  I therfore believe that it is important for each student to progress at his or her own pace.  Acknowledging accomplishments of goals that have been completed helps fuel the desire to progress and learn more.
