I am a passionate music teacher with a focus on student success. I graduated from California State University, Sacramento in 2018 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. I have taught music in one-on-one lessons and classroom settings with many different age students. I have been playing trombone for 15 years and love teaching it to beginners and experienced players. In addition to my current work as an accompanist, I've been teaching piano for 20+ years, and I love partnering with students to help them grow musically and realize their dreams. Some of my students have gone on to be professionals or teachers, and some are playing the music they love with their friends. Others are playing in their churches or in bands, and some play simply for personal enjoyment. My lesson focus depends on the student goals, but I will always include elements of theory, as it facilitates a deeper understanding of the music, allowing students the capability of creating their own music and playing in many different styles. In 2015, I graduated from University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance. Performing in a number of church groups, choirs, operas, and musicals have been enjoyable experiences in my collegiate and professional career as a musician over the last 12 years. Ever since a child, I've loved learning, music and sharing my passions! Through grade school I grew into the role of a leader and a musical/visual artist. In 2018 I graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelors in K-12 Music Education with a minor in Spanish. My years of teaching grade school has reaffirmed my passion for teaching, and drive to be the best teacher I can. As far as methods, I do not believe that there is one system that will work for every student, and so I try to find the right combination for each individual.  For piano students I begin with a combination of Alfred and Faber method books, and also teach different scales for technique.  For voice students I try to pick a combination of vocal exercises, classical music and contemporary music based on the student’s unique voice.  Students learn best from music they are passionate about.  What is most important is finding the right songs for each person.
