I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Music Education from Wartburg College in 2004. I then moved to Wisconsin where I was a middle school and high school choir director for seven years. There I taught chorus, private and group voice lessons, piano class, general music class, and also organized the middle school talent show. I later moved on to Hawaii where I taught private voice and piano lessons through Musikgarten Hawaii. Read More

I teach by inspiration. I want my students to have fun learning while they advance in their studies. Music can be difficult but it doesn't have to be boring. Read More

My joy is to see progress and growth in my students. I also enjoy seeing their love of music develop. I take each student where they are: beginner or advanced, and put goals in place for them. Such goals can be things like learning music for solo and ensemble band / orchestra competitions, performing in their Church, or putting together a jazz band or classical ensemble for concerts. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. Read More

I am a relaxed and easy-going teacher. I am good at staying focused but also fun to be around! I know that learning to play an instrument carries a unique set of challenges for each person, and these can be frustrating. Because I've experienced these challenges myself, my primary goal is to be there for my students, guiding them through the difficult moments as well as the joyful. I care about the student's progress more than sticking to a pre-determined rule book. Read More

I am a vocalist and instructor originally from Portland, Oregon. I have enjoyed performing since I was very young, and have over 15 years of vocal training. I can usually be heard singing opera and classical repertoire, but I also sing musical theater, pop, jazz, country, and contemporary styles. Throughout my time as an artist I have had the opportunity to record an album with my family of singers, tour Eastern Europe with my University choir, and work with new music composers and vocal electronics at CalArts. My students describe me as patient, fun, understanding, and challenging. :) For the shy ones, I like to get to know them, and see what I can do to get through to them and get them to open up to music. For the adventurous one, I dare them to go on adventures with me. For the self-critical ones, I become their voice of encouragement and love. For the over-confident ones, I open their eyes to more challenges that will demand more of themselves. Read More

Growing up with multiple educators in my family has had a huge impact on my life as a volunteer in classrooms. My volunteer experience began when I was in fifth grade, and has continued throughout all of my education experience at Concordia. As I kept growing into a stronger individual, I discovered that the age group I wanted to work with also grew older with me. Working in multiple classrooms throughout my life has only strengthened my resolve to be a teacher because of the communities I have discovered through volunteering. Read More
