When it comes to music theory, notation and reading music, I am also methodical in wanting my students to fully understand what they're reading so that it becomes so natural to them, it's as natural as reading a newspaper or understanding a conversation. I personally really enjoy the Hal Leonard series of method books for guitar and bass. I find them comprehensive, but not bloated, and very easy to understand without being dumbed down at all. I plan to use the Guitar Method and Bass Method books, both Complete Edition (comprised of Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced method books), in combination with the Hal Leonard Music Theory book, which is aimed at stringed instruments. I cater each lesson to the student- no two students will be on the same track and that's ok. Each person, just like each voice, is very unique! I don't see a purpose in forcing a student to learn a piece they don't like. We are here to make music so collaboration is a huge deal for me. I am a graduate from SAE institute with an A.A.S Degree in Sound Audio Engineer, which also qualify me to teach DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software like Protools, Ableton and more.
