For beginning students I like to focus attention on fundamental technique on both hands, making sure that they use the correct finger positioning on the bass. As they advance, the student will begin to know the whole fretboard through scales and arpeggios (in all keys) so the student knows where all the notes are in the instrument. For intermediate to advanced students I recommend books like "Connecting Chords with Linear Harmony" by Bert Ligon, "Fingerboard Harmony for Bass" by Gary Willis, "Funk Bass Fills" by Anthony Vitti, "The Latin Bass Book" by Oscar Stagnaro and "The Essential Jaco Pastorius" by Jaco Pastorius. I started teaching In New York over 20 years ago while in college and playing in bands. I have enjoyed teaching all types of people with a variety of interests and at all levels. I had the pleasure of teaching young children and creating fun and highly interactive lessons. I have held group lessons and also would teach autistic adults and senior citizens. I'm happy to provide individual custom-tailored lessons to make you the best player you can be. Read More

I typically use a combination of methods in the private lesson setting-method books, etude books, books for technique, solo repertoire, and pop/rock/jazz music and or charts for contemporary study. For beginners, I like Essential Elements 2000, Faber Method, Suzuki solo books, and easy pop music books. For more advanced students, I will incorporate advanced methods such as etude books/orchestral excerpts along with repertoire geared more towards polishing for recital or performance. Read More

My teaching experience dates back after my college years during the years of home private studying most musical instruments as I began teaching various instruments to group students at the christian churches. When some of my advanced students started to request private lessons, I founded College Music Lessons. I never have students who just can not understand their instruments. They took the first lessons; they ready for the next ones. Read More

Although I have experience teaching both private, one-on-one lessons and group lessons in a classroom setting, I find that one-on-one lessons is the best way to learn. This allows students to go at their own pace and not have to feel rushed. Not to mention, it's way more enjoyable to learn when you have a patient teacher giving you support and motivation. I don't like to rush students because after all, most students just want to learn for fun. Read More

My methodology is based mostly on understanding the practice and applying the theory to it, to know where what you do comes from. but above all enjoy and fall in love with your instrument because that is what pushes you to continue learning. The music is not explained or shown in words, so it is unnecessary to write as much as they demand, people just want to play and they just need someone to teach them how to do it... I first started teaching after I went good around middle school. I was giving charity classes to a bunch of friends from school who later decided to follow up their guitar studies academically and I gave them the foundation. I started teaching because my teacher said I was already good enough and if I could help him teach the other students, so I did until he retired and me and my Duo Partner took over the school.
