For beginning guitar students i typically like to go over basic and essential elements of playing guitar such as posture, how to correctly hold a pick, how to tune a guitar, etc; all depending on where they stand. As i can see that the student is able to have a grasp on a few fundamentals i like to introduce them to various chord and scale exercises. I typically start with making sure a student knows his instrument first. What it is, all the diffedrent parts and how they work. I will usually start by asking what the student wants to learn and get out of lessons. Since not all students are the same it is really up to them.
