I teach students how to practice smarter and more efficiently with the time they have available in their own schedules. I believe that good, consistent practice is the key to truly developing a student's musical abilities and potential. I also like to develop each student's abilities to perform in various musical settings: playing along to musical tracks; developing their ear; performing with bands; playing solo excursions; and enhancing their ablities and potential for bringing their skills to potential, future sessions. I taught my first lesson 5 years ago when I was an under graduate. I began teaching guitar to the public part time at age 19 in the music department of my community college. From there, I went on to a university and continued to teach guitar, bass, and voice while I finished up on getting my performance degree. Ironically enough, some of the best lessons I ever learned in music school weren't even how to play, it was how to teach. Read More

I began teaching bass lessons when I was in high school. I taught bass for 11 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I also worked as a clinician at the UAB Jazz Summit. Many of my students have gone on to play professionally and a few have gone on to become music teachers themselves. The most important aspect to teaching in my opinion is to make sure that the students remain engaged and excited enough to spend the time that will make them successful. Read More

The one thing I want to see is for my students to succeed and build a passion for music! This being said, I will always make sure the student is happy with my teaching style and how the lessons are going. Communication will be key as we will set both realistic short-term and long-term goals, acknowledge accomplishments, anf tailor to the wants of each student. I plan to push each student to the top of their abilities so they can be the best they can be. Read More
