My teaching experience goes back to middle school. I didn't get paid for it but I would teach the drummers their part the ensembles and performances in the orchestra and jazz band. That way the teacher could focus on instructing the other students the different instruments. I started booking regular paid gigs after college. I would perform shows and people would ask for lessons after the gig, networking is a big part of the professional side of playing music I encourage listening to all styles of music. Read More

Applied behavior analysis is key to teaching complex tasks and acquiring fine motor skills to perform the student’s intentions. Reward systems are implemented with social reinforcement and earned graduation plans (free strings, picks, CD’s, books, etc.). I cater to the wishes and dreams of the student, while directing them to meet the requirements to obtain those wishes and dreams. Nothing is forced, compliance is always granted and earned, determined work ethic is displayed throughout. Read More

It was, but it was even more fun for me because I was already well comfortable with what they were teaching, so the teacher would use me as an aide to assist the other students with what they were learning. Throughout high school and college I taught the basics to cousins, girlfriends, and buddies on guitar, drums, and even ukulele (which I learned on the fly, but my understanding and past experience with music made it an easy task). My teaching experience goes back almost 8 years ago. I had joined a worship band for the church and one of the guitar players asked me for lessons to help him better understand how to play in a band. I traveled to his home and several others by word of mouth. A few years later I launched my own private lessons out of my home. Continually my personal lessons, I then worked part time with a private music academy for 5 years. Read More

I have been teaching privately since 2006. I specialize in jazz drum set, but I can teach all sorts of styles of music as well. In addition to drum set, I teach rudimental, marching and classical snare drum, classical percussion (mallets, timpani), afro-cuban percussion (congas, bongos, timbales), sight reading, music theory, and beginning piano. I also have experience teaching high school drumlines, as well as jazz and rock bands for middle school and high school students. Read More
