I fell in love with music at a young age, hearing relatives sing and play, and began taking guitar and bass lessons as a teen. I then majored in bass and music at Onondaga Community College, which is known for it's music program. I have had the opportunity to tour the country with a band out of Austin, Texas, as a signed professional musician with a national act. I recorded a love show for XM Radio, and have had a song played on NPR. Read More

From the grandeur of Carnegie Hall to the historic Kodak Hall, each performance has been a testament to my dedication to the art of double bass playing. A notable achievement in my career includes being a runner-up in the Eastman School of Music Concerto Competition, an experience that further fueled my commitment to excellence. It is this blend of performance accolades and teaching expertise that I bring to every lesson, offering a unique perspective shaped by both the stage and the classroom. Read More

I try to motivate students to practice at their own pace. Within a few lessons the student is working on playing some familiar songs. Letting them know that we can start to work on material they prefer is how I get them to work on necessary technique. Many of my students have been accepted into music schools and/or are performing regularly. Read More

For beginning children, I typically like to use the Alfred series of beginner books depending on the instrument. I also like the students to rely on their ears just as equally, so the other half of the lesson is usually dedicated to learning music without relying on reading music. Of course, this is all dependent on the student's needs or prior experience. More importantly, I want to teach the student what they are truly interested in with music, and I have plenty of material to discuss if they are unsure of this interest. Read More

I have performed as a professional opera singer for over fifteen years singing multiple styles in famous venues around the United States, including the prestigious Carnegie Hall. Along with my singing career, I have played guitar professionally for nearly twenty years. Read More

These were wonderful opportunities to teach peers and those who have been in the music education field much longer than the four of us. Although teaching large groups is exciting, nothing beats one-on-one lessons with a student. I have had and taught plenty of these lessons for several instruments including flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, french horn, euphonium, tuba, percussion, piano, guitar, and bass guitar. These lessons vary quite a bit in skill level, but they all offered challenges for both student and teacher. Read More

Yes for teaching piano I use Nancy and Randall Faber's books. I have used all of them. For guitar and mandolin I generally do not use a "book". As the lessons progress I might introduce a book if that is what is called for. All orchestral instruments call for the structure of a book and I augment that with my own explanations. This is true for all ages of learners. Read More
