I grew up learning music in the Rochester area and received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA in 2015. I graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Music. These were wonderful opportunities to teach peers and those who have been in the music education field much longer than the four of us. Although teaching large groups is exciting, nothing beats one-on-one lessons with a student. I have had and taught plenty of these lessons for several instruments including flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, french horn, euphonium, tuba, percussion, piano, guitar, and bass guitar. I fell in love with music at a young age, hearing relatives sing and play, and began taking guitar and bass lessons as a teen.  I then majored in bass and music at Onondaga Community College, which is known for it's music program.  I have had the opportunity to tour the country with a band out of Austin, Texas, as a signed professional musician with a national act.  I recorded a love show for XM Radio, and have had a song played on NPR. Yes for teaching piano I use Nancy and Randall Faber's books. I have used all of them. For guitar and mandolin I generally do not use a "book". As the lessons progress I might introduce a book if that is what is called for. All orchestral instruments call for the structure of a book and I augment that with my own explanations.
