I completed my Master's degree at Tbilisi State Conservatoire under the guidance of Prof. Tamara Gabarashvili (Tchaikovsky competition 5th prize 1966). Since 2004 until 2015 I was a principal cellist of Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theater. Since 2004 I am teaching private cello lessons and also working at music schools and pre-school places, and I am also a member of a string quartet "Iberi." Once I have assessed a students's personal ability, there is discussion of what goals/objectives the student wshes to achieve. Once we have decided what direction the student wishes to take with their instrument, I typically use a variety of etudes, chamber, and solo music to offer both a strong technical base along with a freedom of choice. I use String Builder, Essential Elements, etudes, technical studies for each instrument and Suzuki Methods for strings and essential elements for clarinet. I emphasize good posture, holding the instrument and bow properly and correct finger placement. Also learning to play scales and music to prepare for auditions and a recital. I also teach students music theory and sight reading and assist with orchestral music.
