I have been teaching private lessons since my undergraduate days, working in public schools in private studios and independently. I offer lessons to cello students of all ages in and around Red Hook. I have extensive experience teaching students ranging elementary school-aged to retired. My priority is to keep in mind that each student has different needs and strengths. And, if a student wants some pointers on how to write a song, I am quite experienced in that, having written several Off Broadway kid's shows, including my popular, "The Everyday Life Of Kids", which played throughout the Westchester NY school system. Graduated from eastman school of music with Masters of music performance and literature with Steven Doane and undergrad bachelors of cello performance with Tanya Remenikova. I am currently a third year principal cellist at The Orchestra Now in residence at Bard College in Annadale on Hudson NY. Ive played with the minneapolis sinfonietta and associate with Chicago civic. I recently graduated with a B.M. in cello performance from the Juilliard School. I have over six years of private teaching experience with cellists of all ages and experience levels. As a soloist, ensemble member, and participant in international festivals and competitions, I have performed throughout the US, China, Canada, Switzerland, and Russia. I have performed as a soloist with various orchestras throughout Connecticut including the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, and was a member of Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra of the USA. I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. My teaching experience has been with both children and adults learning to play for the first time. I love getting to know a students interests, both musical and scholastic, and helping them overcome any obstacles that they encounter while learning to play the cello.
