Students will be presented with all the necessary skills in order to properly perform on the clarinet: breathing, posture, hand and finger position, embouchure, tone production, articulation, technique, rhythmical precision, transposition, and sight-reading. A wide selection of clarinet literature will be presented: classical, romantic and contemporary eras (baroque transcriptions as needed). Orchestral excerpts may be taught throughout the course of study (depending on students desire). Any good coach would study the student for any weakness, and formulate a viable plan to bridge the gap again to take them further faster.. I teach a combination of Rote and verbal, conveying my ideas while playing as an example. I realized my passion for music when I was teaching forty clarinetists during a band camp. They caught on to my personality and knew I wanted the best for them. This ultimately drove them to be better musicians. Depending on the instrument, I will bring in another method book specific to that instrument book and we will also use some sort of etude book. I have had many students continue to play when they entered college just for fun and a way of meeting people with similar interests.
