The routine that works best for the student will prove itself over time depending on the student. It may be to work one way for one student but not so much for another student. For beginners, I have a multitude of etudes, simple songs, and exercises to encourage sight-reading, finger comfortability, and basic cognitive understanding of music fundamentals such as scales.
