I was a member of the Penn State Marching Blue Band and have participated in several Alumni Blue Band performances since graduating. Once students have gotten the basics down, I begin to introduce other types of books such as technique books, scale books, etudes, or even solo repertoire. I always spend the first few lessons getting the student familiar with the basic technique of the instrument, and then quickly move on to duets, improvising, sight reading, solos, etc. that tie in with the current technique studies.
