My lesson plan includes: Hand and foot technique, learning to read music, good practice techniques and habits, learning to play with a click track/metronome, live performance techniques, rudiments, limb interdependence, Latin, funk, rock, blues, jazz, reggae, and country styles, and charting (mapping out song structures for faster memorization of songs) which also deepens your understanding of the interworking parts of songs and how to arrange them to achieve the most effective response for your listener. I believe music instruction should be thrilling and rewarding, and leave the student eager to play more! Maintaining the smile that comes from the joy of expanding skills and creating a unique world of sound is my calling, and I believe every student deserves the chance to experience that. Music can be used to develop social skills and expand self-awareness, as well as two stimulate both right and left brain thinking. Read More

For drums I would start off by showing them different parts of the drums and how it operates. After that I would then tell them the name and give them hacks to remember each part of the drum set. Once that is done I would then allow them to hit each drum piece to get a feel on how it sounds. Once that is over I would then show them how to hold their sticks which often times is traditional grip. Read More
Instruments: Piano Drums Keyboard
My teaching studio is equipped with two drums sets and practice pads to accommodate marching or drum set students. I also have a full PA and two keyboards set up for piano students and accompanying purposes. Each student is given an assignment for the week (or specified time) and will then pass off this lesson assignment (barrier) before receiving a new lesson. Passing off not only includes demonstration of the lesson but also performing with me as I accompany them on the keyboards. Read More

For beginners, I recommend Standards of Excellence and if the parent's budget allows, a subscription to Smart Music which can monitor and record daily practice and inform a student of minor errors so growth can happen between lessons. For intermediate or advanced students, I like to establish a well rounded warm-up routine for their practice and move into solo repertoire appropriate for their level. For adults, I like to cater towards their goals and desires. Read More

My teaching style consist of setting realistic goals and encouraging students to push past what they think their limitations are. Getting my students to understand that this journey is a marathon and not a race is important so that they can understand how they should pace themselves as they progress. Offering my students a chance of performing in front of an audience through recitals, gives them motivation to continue to strive to be a better player and allows them to see the fruits of their labor.
