I have been teaching privately since 2010, when I accepted a position as a teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University. My responsibilities included teaching private lessons to undergraduate percussion majors and coaching percussion ensembles. I also began teaching students from middle school through high school age around the same time, and my students have since included those of adult age. I'm very laid-back but focused. I expect students to work at this and put forth the effort. I also understand that life happens and a student may have missed some practice time. I'm okay with that. My teacher did that for me so I'll do the same for my students. I don't believe in over-criticizing a student. I always take into consideration the amount of time that we have together (number of lessons per month) in order to reach these goals so I am able to keep everything on track.
