I've performed all over the world on cruise ships and touring with artists. I've played in numerous bands in the Los Angeles area of all genres. I began teaching after graduating high school and have continued to do so ever since. During these years I attended college at California State University Chico, where I earned my Bachelor's degree as an audio engineer. This journey greatly helped me grow as a musician, teacher, leader, and engineer. Through out my college years I continued to play in bands both through my school and locally in our community, started my own business to help local musicians gain recognition and improve their skills, gained a new appreciation for musicianship and creativity through the eyes of an audio engineer, and of course taught my students to improve their musical abilities. My first student in 2002 was 13 years old. Ever since then I’ve taught students ranging in age from 10 to 43. Most of the students studied drum kit with several showing interest in hand drums. The styles I’ve taught included Rock, Funk, Latin, Jazz, and Reggae. I always encourage my students to explore other styles of music. I first began teaching music lessons as a way to earn extra money for college and I have been teaching ever since. I have been mostly a freelance teacher, but I have substitute taught many times at Musical Beginnings in Vancouver, Washington. My first instrument is drums, though I have also been playing and teaching guitar and ukulele for a long time. In church settings I have often had the opportunity to help younger and less experienced musicians find their place in the praise band or worship team and to learn how to play music as a part of a group.
