I began teaching guitar in high school to middle school students and continued teaching children and adults throughout college. While in music college, I grew to start to teaching bass guitar as well as drums. My teaching style is focused yet fun. For beginner students, I often begin with the foundations of the instrument. For drums, we would be practice the rhythmic subdivisions (quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes) and slowly work them into grooves that they can easily start to pick out of their favorite songs. When the fundamentals have been established, we can learn more advanced grooves, dissect songs together, and learn how to improvise and write our own drum parts. I have been a percussionist for 10 years now, I am currently studying at the University of Delaware and getting my master's in Percussion Performance. I also got my undergraduate degree at UD in Music Education with a percussion focus, I am certified to teach K-12 instrumental, vocal, and general music.
