My loveof music began at a young age through playing piano, percussion, and guitarand continued to grow throughout my years of schooling. I graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in May of 2013 with my Bachelor of Music degree with a Concentration in Music Composition. I have since been spreading my knowledge of music throughoutmy local community through teaching, playing, and composition. I have released twomusic albums, one in 2011 andthe other in 2013,in which Iplayed percussion, drum set, guitar, bass guitar,keyboard, and sang while also recording, electronically programming,composing, and producing the albums myself.I have been building my studiofor over eight years and have acquired many pieces of equipment that help me teach, compose, play, and produce music. I have been playing drums for thirty years, and teaching drums to all ages of students for about twenty. I started playing drum set at the age of five, took regular private lessons from many teachers, took every music class available at school, and made District Honor Band seven years. I marched on my high school's snare line for four years and was Drum Captain for two. I marched snare drum for Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps in 2000, as well as for The University of Georgia's Redcoat Marching Band. Read More

I like for each of my students to move at their own pace, and if it takes you longer to learn something than it does your friends, so what? You both learned it, which is what's important. But if we try to move on before the student has adequately learned something, it'll just lead to discouragement and stress. You as the student want to stretch yourself, not snap in two. Read More

For beginners, I try to keep thing informal and fun while teaching basics without putting any pressure to get into the technical stuff like hand technique and reading until they're ready. For intermediate students, I nudged them along with weekly lessons that are challenging enough to keep them engaged - this includes reading, hand technique and limb independence. Read More
