I am a driven music professional who knows how to relate to diverse students, find the best way of receiving knowledge they know how, and teach them every tip and trick that I've learned along the way. In 2013, I graduated from Catawba College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Popular Music. I am a classically trained Tenor who took voice lessons for three years from a world-renowned Opera singer. Read More

My teaching style is fairly relaxed. The pace depends on the students' goals and skill level. Most importantly, I want the student to have fun! I like to encourage students to become proficient in reading, but I only will use books that suit the students needs and desires. As such, there is no one book or program that I depend on. However, I do insist that students practice and come prepared to each lesson. Read More

Many self taught drummers learn bad habits which become very difficult to break as they get older. We will break these habits if needed. For the beginner, we will spend the first two or three lessons working on proper grip and motion. Once that is mastered, we will use the Maroni book and use the first page of Stick Control. I would like to supplement that with a John Wooton play along book which takes the boredom out of Stick Control. Read More

can teach from any book the student is interested in, but if he or she is unsure where to begin, I recommend the following. For basic snare drum technique, I teach out of "Alfred's Drum Method Book One," as well as printing out a page of all 40 essential rudiments for each student; I would teach these as the student progresses. For beginner drum set, I teach out of "Alfred's Beginning Drum Set Method," as well as playing along to songs the student picks out; this is truly the best way to improve on the instrument. Read More

Im an experienced and accomplished musician, and I love sharing my love of music with students. Ive greatly enjoyed many opportunities to perform and teach music over the years. Some of my greatest experiences have included touring with bands I idolized growing up, writing music and seeing it all the way through to recording and publishing, and seeing students glowing at recitals after playing their favorite song or classical piece. I approach teaching by meeting my students where they are and addressing their goals. However, there are fundamental techniques that apply to any application and musical setting that we will cover extensively so that you are prepared to play anything. We will also work on reading and groove. I have played virtually all styles of music common in the USA and am prepared to teach my students how to play them well. Read More
