At my current employer, Little Black Pearl Art and Design Academy, I orchestrated a master class with Israeli artist, Idan Raichel. My vocal and rap students performed with him during that class and were invited to perform with him at Chicago's City Winery and Ravinia Pavilion in Highland Park Illinois. i use many different books for different students. whether they are children or adults. i typically use hal leonard books such as fast track or play today or essential elements. other method books i teach are mel bay, alfred's, warner brothers, kjos, fjh, suzuki and many others. i have my own fun and fast way i teach to learn about music and your particular instrument. i motivate each student accordingly. and i guide them thru the many challenges music has to offer. in all, music should be a part in everyone's life. My teaching experience has had alot of learning experiences for myself as well. Every student is different. You tend to learn things about other students playing that in some ways helps your own. Ive always emphasized listening to as many styles of music as possible. The more youre comfortable with as a listener, the easier it usually is to learn. The idea is to have a vast musical vocabulary so as not to limit yourself when it comes time to look for work either as a performer, a teacher, or a session player. Read More

I began teaching private drum set lessons during my first year as an Eastern Illinois University student. I taught lessons for just about three years while in college. At one point, I had about 14 students to teach and fit into my busy schedule. I've learned a lot from that experience and now know how to manage time efficiently with a heavy teaching load.
