Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music. Naturally everyone is different and will progress at their own pace, so I would guide my instruction according to their wants, needs, skill level and also challenge them to venture beyond their comfort zone in each lesson. I was born in 1991 and started playing drums shortly after that. Growing up in Detroit Michigan I fell in love with sound and was exposed early to many different styles of music. Studying music from a early age I went on to attend Berklee College of Music on Scholarship where I received various awards and performed with many of my favorite musicians including George Garzone, Bob Gullotti, John Lockwood, Doug Johnson, Aaron Goldberg, Joanne Brackeen, and many more. I believe the proper technique is essential in order to be a successful percussionist. We would start by how to hold the stick properly, whether it be matched grip or traditional grip. From there we would move on to how to properly hit the drum and bounce the stick. The first few lessons are usually all about technique and approach and we would mainly stay on one drum or surface, but after that we would move to the drumset or another area that interests the student.
