I started playing the flute in 2010, and the piccolo a little bit after that. In 2013 I started performing through international competitions, and received my diploma in musical performance through ABRSM in 2016, certifying me to teach. I recently graduated from Princeton University and performed while there in orchestra and pit orchestra groups. I grew up in Singapore and really enjoyed performing at venues like the National Gallery while there, and also was honored to perform at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall in NYC in 2016. Read More

Learning about music involves so much more than technique or scales, but also relies so much on their emotions and mindset. I want to prioritize their own independence within these lessons in regards to choosing their own repertoire or experimenting with their own compositional style so that they can embrace how liberating and fun learning about music and being creative can be, rather than seeing it as a chore! I also want to make sure that their musical journey is built with the right mindset - a lot of the time there is unnecessary toxic, competitive energy within other musicians which defeats the whole purpose of inspirational collaboration that can come from playing music with others. I have interned for leading intellectual property and entertainment lawyers, including the former director of business affairs for Sony, the late Steve Gordon. My volunteer management experiences were filled with helping artists educate children in their respective and diverse communities. Then, after law school working for two bay area nonprofit organizations, one that focused on nonprofit compliance on an international scale and the other that is formed to dismantle systems of oppression through organizing, advocacy, and litigation, I have dovetailed my skills and beliefs into both working for civil rights, and teaching flute in expanding the reach of music education nationwide.
