From 4th grade to High School graduation, I also recieved NYSSMA awards and scholarships as a flutist. From age 16 to presently I have been a Church organist and choir director. Recently I have been awarded the "Best of 2015" music teacher from Thumbtack. I'd be happy to have a half hour consultation with no obligation. The lessons can be in your home using your own piano or in my piano studio in Copiague . Read More

I've worked in many different fields around music education, enabling me to have a broad range of experiences and an ability to adapt to any situation. As a music instructor, I've taught 1-on-1 private lessons, and I've also worked at several summer camps including the Florida State University Jazz Camp, where I was the musical assistant to professor Bill Kennedy, and at Long Lake Camp For The Arts, where I served as the head of the music department. I am a passionate and dedicated instructor who loves working with students and sharing our love of music. I graduated from the Mannes School of Music with a Masters degree in Flute Performance. I have performed as a soloist, chamber musician, as well as an orchestral flutist during the 14 years of my life as a musician. I've had the opportunity to perform at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, as well as appearing on the Wind Masterclass Series featuring Demarre McGill. Read More

I enjoy when my students show improvement through dedicated practice. I encourage this by setting achievable weekly goals for them. This can be as simple as working through a known exercise at a few metronome clicks faster than the previous lesson, or as complicated as learning a whole song in one or more entirely new keys. Hello! I am so glad you are here! Congratulations on taking the first steps to learning the flute or improving the skills you already have--whether you study with me or with anyone else, learning an instrument takes discipline, open-mindedness, and courage (and so does teaching it for that matter!). I am a professional flutist in the NYC area with two masters degrees and 10+ years of teaching experience--in fact, teaching flute was my first job! Read More

Each student has a unique learning style, and I strive to adapt my teaching style to be as effective as possible. The best teacher will teach their student how to teach themselves and how to critically listen to their playing. The most significant thing to know about my teaching style is that we will continually discuss methods of practice and the reasons behind what we are learning. I help my students to set realistic short term and long term goals and give them the tools to reach those goals. Read More

It is important that when attending private lessons that a student receives individualized instruction geared to their specific level of playing and their musical desires. Because of this, I like to utilize a systematic approach to lessons--each week students work on scales (Major, minor, chormatic), etudes/lesson books, solo repertoire, duet and a piece of choice. Once we've learned all the fundementals, I like to give students the ability to choose their repertiore (with guidance of course!), offering 3-5 examples of possible solo work--but we're always working on a "fun" piece of choice.I believe that engaging students in the selection process of repertoire helps create ownership, especially when practicing.I like to have students set tangible short and long-term goals so that we're always improving during lessons.
