I am a New York City-based flutist, passionate teacher and trail-blazing entrepreneur. In 2014, I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance and a minor in Entrepreneurship. I am currently pursuing my master's degree in Classical Flute Performance at the Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Linda Chesis. I am a native of Detroit, Michigan, and I have won first or second prize in many competitions including the Lima Symphony Young Artist Concerto Competition, the Central Ohio Flute Association Collegiate Division Competition, the MTNA Solo Competition, and the New Albany Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. For beginning students, I prefer to start them on a book based in warming up and getting used to movement in hands if we are playing piano. Throughout my teaching, I incorporate music theory and ear training into my classes as it creates a fantastic bridge to understanding the instrument. As we get used to our new instrument, I will recommend some songs to get started on and allow my students to come to class with ideas and songs that they want to learn how to play or sing. Read More

My teaching style is enthusiastic. I always show my students support, even if they are feeling discouraged. If there is a problem one my face in their individual practice, I am diligent in problem solving in our lesson. I work with my students to find small scale goals to work towards, and when they reach them, we find a new goal together. Whether it is playing a chromatic scale, learning vibrato, or a tricky run in a piece, I acknowledge and celebrate for them. Read More

During my time at Hartt and NYU, I have performed with the Hartt School Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, the NYU Orchestra, as well as the hart School Contemporary music ensemble, and performed recitals as a soloist, and as a member of my flute quartet and flute and guitar duo. I have had a wide variety of experiences with performing different styles and types of music. As a teacher, I would love to pass on some of my knowledge and experience on to all of my students. My first experience teaching began in 2014 when I began working marching band camps as the flute tech. I was responsible for helping the students learn marching fundamentals and drill for the show, in addition to running music related sectionals with the flute section daily. I started teaching privately in the fall of 2017, teaching middle school and high school students. At NYU, I am an Adjunct Flute Instructor teaching non-music majors flute lessons, and have had a wide range of students at NYU - beginners all the way to advance players. Read More
