I began teaching in 2000, and since then have taught saxophones, flute, clarinet, improvisation, chord theory, piano / keyboard, basic music understanding to young children in a classroom setting, and coached worship teams and group seminars to all ages. It is a great joy to see students excel and expand as they take what they have learned into their own lives! I have been playing flute for 10+ years, and have taught students of all different ages levels for about 2 years now. Ill have flute/guitar students learn current hits that they love and use them to teach improvisation. It all depends on the student. I teach songwriting. To that end, I may have the student come up with a hook, write a poem, or even an idea for a song about something that is meaningful to them.
