Hello! My name is Jessica and I am a passionate and motivated music instructor that loves changing lives through music. I am a Full Sail graduate (Recording Arts & Music Business) who continued my education in child and adolescent psychology (M.S.) to allow me to fully understand my students on a developmental and cognitive level in order to ensure the highest level of success per child. I have performed in bands in my younger days and received ample superior medals but now I focus on managing our youth musically to help mold successful young adults. Read More

I love playing the flute and being able to share my passion with others. I earned my BM in 2007 from Florida State University. There were so many wonderful playing opportunities here and as an undergraduate I was playing in the top orchestra. I was also a member of the world renown Marching CHIEFS where I served as section leader to 50 plus flute players. One of the more unique ensembles I played in was the Andean music ensemble, Aconcagua, where I played the zampona (panpipes) and the quena (Andean flute). Read More

One of my greatest joys have always been to see my students make progress and express how happy they are with themselves after working hard, and this is one of my greatest motivations to teach and give teaching all that I've got. As a private studio instructor, I encourage my students to keep detailed notes of our lessons and record their practice sessions and discoveries in that same note book for this helps with organization and focus, thus eliminating the need for aimless practicing and playing of ones instrument. I base my every teaching style according to what the individual student needs . Teaching a class of 60 students is much different than a one on one class. No two people are the same and so they should not be taught the same exact way. For ex. Conversely, students who lack conviction and confidence need to listen to classic recordings to gain inspiration , drive. Read More

I have taught music for the past three years (mostly in home lessons). Jazz is a very important component to my lesson plan, because I want all of my students to understand the concept of improvisation. Improvisation makes students excited to see that music goes beyond what is on the sheet of paper. If a student is not having a good time making music, I am not doing my job correctly. Read More

My teaching experience first began in 2018. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen familial circumstances, I was unable to continue pursuing my teaching career in the state of Alabama. As a result, I found a home in a high school in Clayton County, GA. Of course, this meant that 2 1/2 years of my three years spent at this school system were spent during the Covid pandemic. While a teacher at CCPS, I taught beginning band and beginning and intermediate guitar. Read More
