I am the former principal flute of the Queen City Chamber Orchestra of Cincinnati, principal of Seven Hills Baroque Orchestra, founding member of both the Cincinnati Camerata Baroque and the Aurora Ensemble, and a leader in the New Hampshire music non-profit Silentwoods Collective. With two masters of music degrees (one in flute and one in historical performance) I am equally at home teaching modern flute/piccolo and historical flutes. I also try to find out more about the subject that each student likes so that we can both incorporate a bit of fun into the lesson. I've worked in several different after-school programs in Boston and now New York, and I am currently running a piano workshop at the Brooklyn New School. I began teaching while in college and have now been teaching for 11 years.  My students have ranged in age from 3-60.  Since getting my Suzuki Flute certification in 2008,  I have found the Suzuki method a great way to start young beginners.  In addition to giving private lessons, I taught group flute classes for 3 years with the Harmony Program  My students are encouraged to participate in ensembles, competitions and recitals as having such goals is a great motivation for practice and musical growth. My experience in teaching is still growing. I have previously taught freelance back in 2010 assisting high school students prep for NYSSMA. I have taught toddlers as well as adults since then off and on but am looking to start to teach more consistently and regularly. I also have experience with children and young adults with special needs. I encourage a consistent schedule and regular practice but also like to make sure my student enjoys the music and learns to appreciate the instrument and what they are playing. Read More

I have been teaching saxophone lessons ever since I was 15 years old, when I used to mentor other students who were just starting to play. I am comfortable teaching all ages, and have had students in the past ranging from ages 6 to 50. Teaching is a great joy for me; some of my proudest moments have been at student recitals, watching young musicians play!
