I am an enthusiastic and talented music instructor who loves working with students and sharing my passion for music.  I graduated from the University of Mary Washington in the Fall of 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.  I have a wide variety of musical talents, including theory, performance and composition.  My primary instrument is flute and I am comfortable teaching any age group and any skill level. I approach teaching with a supportive and open mind. It is important to me that I create a supportive learning environment, while also challenging the student to reach new heights. Every student is different, and every student learns differently; so it is my job to identify a student's learning style and tailor each lesson appropriately. For elementary students and some middle schoolers, I usually either work out of Standard of Excellence or Essential Elements book 1 to begin their studies or continue where they left off. For high schoolers and more advanced middle schoolers, I like to have them play solo flute pieces that fit with their ability level. I have seven years of teaching experience from beginners to advanced high school students. My teaching career began in 2015 as a teacher for The Joseph and Anthony Manzi Foundation Summer Band Camp. This camp was where I discovered my love for teaching. In the following years, I gained experience teaching private lessons in both my home studio and students’ homes. I began teaching lessons after my freshman year of college in 2010 and have had students consistently since. I have worked with students from the very beginning stages to those at the college level. My students have successfully auditioned for CMEA festivals (Connecticut Music Educators Association) and NYSSMA festivals (New York State School Music Association).
