Once the student has demonstrated a sufficient grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce repertoire, always gauging their level so that I can provide them with a challenging and rewarding experience. While serving, I was the concertmaster, clarinet section leader, and leader of the woodwind quintet for a combination of 300+ performances around the world. I also have several years of experience playing saxophone in a Latin big band located in Honolulu, Hawaii - Son Caribe. As a pianist, I took classes from IU that broadened my capability as a teacher to teach everything from general, choral, and instrumental music. I had my senior piano solo recital. I have a diverse range of performing experiences as a vocalist, including Opera, International Vocal Ensemble, and show choirs. With voice lessons, I have learned a lot about singing and being able to teach healthy singing. When I was in college, I was offered a temporary teaching position to teach piano at Allegro Music Academy (Lemont, IL) and I was able to work with children of all ages and playing levels. For instance if a student is interested in Musicals. We will start with our basic warm up and techniques but on top of that I would assign an excerpt from a musical that correlates with the current lesson.
