For guitar- I studied under Mike Christensen at Utah States University. I use his guitar books that he has written. For piano- I use Alfred''s piano books. They are very well written and are geared for success! For flute- I start with Suzuki and then the sky is the limit! I like playing music theory games with kids. I usually start out using the Rubank Method, but I frequently incorporate some Suzuki and other ear training methods as well. I also like to use Trevor Wyes books for more advanced students. I like to expose all students to a classical repertoire of performance pieces, using basics for beginners and progressing in difficulty as the student gains more control of the instrument. I use a variety of books with etudes, or studies, to give students a strong background in technique while also teaching various musical concepts such as theory and improvisation. Read More

I want my students to feel comfortable during lessons. After all, playing in front of someone can be scary! I strive to be warm and inviting while also providing direction and education. I put heave emphasis on the basics like scales (major and minor), circle of fifths, thirds and fifths, and sight reading.
