During our lessons we will work on performing upper level saxophone literature, learning jazz standards, improvisation, advanced music theory (including jazz theory), and complex technical exercises in all 12 keys. To help students achieve a rich, full tone, I like to give voice exercises and body exercises to expand their vocal cords and posture to get that beautiful, rich sound. I also like to ask my students to record their own playing to compare how different the recording sounds from what they usually hear, which helps give them a better sense of what they need to improve and trains their ears to adjust to their tone, pitches, and even tempo. I am a passionate jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator originally from Los Angeles area. In 2018, I graduated with B.A. in Saxophone Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Studies at California State University, Long Beach. I am currently attending Manhattan School of Music for a Masters degree in Jazz Composition.
