In my private lessons I emphasize building a strong foundation in rhythm, intonation, and note accuracy.  I incorporate learning theory, and playing with musical intention into every lesson to develop maturity, even in young musicians.  My students are comfortable reading music, and have all the skills they need to practice effectively.  In addition, I have prepared many musicians for successful concerts, festivals, and gigs. I will also introduce pieces from the Selected Duets for Flute collections as the student progresses to use as sight-reading material at the end of our lessons. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. I believe that students should be passionate about the music they are learning, so I encourage my students to select at least one piece of music that they are motivated and excited to learn each month.
