For my beginning students, I generally start with the book their school teacher wants them to use, or I have students use the Yamaha book 1. If the student begins in middle school or high school, I like to use the Rubank books. I believe that working on solo repertoire is an important part of learning and performing, so I begin my students on solo repertoire as soon as possible. In 2020, I graduated from UMass Lowell with a Bachelor’s in Music Studies. In 2022, I graduated with a Master’s in Music Education. Then I will choose from appropriate method books depending on the student's skill level. I tailor my teaching style to each student.  When something clicks for them, I stick with it and adapt to keep the student engaged, interested, and passionate about music.  If I find a student is not fond of a certain book or solo, we change course together. I particularly love working with beginner flutists and helping them to find their voice on the flute and discover the joys of playing.
